Water Witching

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:
I enjoyed the article in a recent issue of the Times-Union about water-witching. However, the writer failed to give sufficient  instructions for someone who wants to find water.

I have never learned to use a green branch but there is no magic involved when using rods. The rod must have a high level of brass. Don’t ask me why but brass is attracted to water.

The most fool-proof rods are brazing (brass) rods that you can get at any welding shop. Simply bend a 4- or 5-inch handle on each by making a 90-degree bend. Hold the handles loosely in your hands about 2 feet apart and keep them fairly level.

One rod is always positive and one is negative. When you cross a water line they will align themselves with the water line.  If they swing away from each other just change hands and they will swing together.

Brass rods will work for anybody every time. There is no mystery.

If you have a problem, give me a call. I’m in the book.
