In an attempt to reduce speeds in problem areas of Kosciusko County, the sheriff's department is purchasing this trunk-mounted radar unit from MPH Industries. The $1,800 unit is currently on loan to the Warsaw Police Department, which had it stationed on Ind. 15 north of Warsaw Community High School Wednesday morning. Police officials said motorists tend to slow down when the sign flashes their speed and officers are hoping for voluntary compliance by those who realize they are exceeding the speed limit. The presence of the unit recently in Oswego brought residents out with a standing ovation for the officers manning it. Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine said the radar sign will not always be manned, but that motorists should be aware of speed limit enforcement when it is. Photo by Gary Nieter, Times-Union
