NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION OF WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, INDIANA ELECTING TO PROVIDE FIRE SERVICE TO THE TOWN OF PIERCETON, INDIANA WITHOUT A CONTRACT
Notice is hereby given to all interested persons within the boundaries of Washington Township, Kosciusko County, Indiana (hereinafter “Township”) that on the 19th day of February, 2024, the Township Advisory Board of the Township adopted Resolution No. 2024-2-1, being a resolution electing to provide fire service to the Town of Pierceton, Indiana without a contract (hereinafter “Resolution”).
Notice is further given that said Resolution provides, in part, the following:
WHEREAS, Washington Township, Kosciusko County, Indiana is a municipality that contains the entirety of the Town of Pierceton, Indiana; and
WHEREAS, said Washington Township provides fire protection within its boundaries; and
WHEREAS, a certain contract for fire protection between the Town of Pierceton and Washington Township expires on December 31, 2024, and will not be renewed, and thereafter there will not be a contract for fire protection between the Town of Pierceton and Washington Township in effect as of January 1, 2025; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed in the best interest of the citizens of Washington Township to continue to provide fire protection to the Town of Pierceton without a contract after the expiration of said contract on December 31, 2024;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP ADVISORY BOARD THAT:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to IC 36-8-13-3(b)(l), the Washington Township hereby elects to provide fire services to the Town of Pierceton without a contract beginning January 1, 2025.
SECTION 2. However, Washington Township retains authority to continue to contract for fire protection services should the Town of Pierceton fail to pass an ordinance approving the provision of the fire protection services without a contract with the Township prior to July 1, 2024.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be effective upon its passage and shall be filed with the Auditor of Kosciusko County. Further, this Resolution shall be published in the Warsaw Times-Union, a newspaper of general circulation published daily in Warsaw, Kosciusko County and circulated in Pierceton.
