Washington STEM Academy’s spelling bee champion is Brooklyn Fitzgerald (L), and the runner-up is Veronica Mason (R). Brooklyn’s parents are Josh and Ashley Fitzgerald, Warsaw. Veronica’s parents are John and Maria Mason, Warsaw. Fitzgerald will represent Washington at the county spelling bee at Lakeview Middle School at 6 p.m. Feb. 4. Fitzgerald spelled the word ‘futon’ to win the competition.
