Washington Elementary School held a food drive recently called 'Kids Helping Kids Food Drive.' The students were told that summer is one of the hungriest times of the year for a lot of families, and the kids were encouraged to donate 'kid friendly' food, but any donation was appreciated. The school collected for a week, and a total of 2,262 items were collected. The food drive was a competition between classes, with the winning class being Mrs. Corson's second-grade class. Her class collected 256 items and won a banana split party provided by the student council.
