Warsaw's Soccer Win Over LCA Leads Roundup

WINONA LAKE – The Class 2A No. 3 Warsaw boys soccer team won Saturday's crosstown game at Lakeland Christian Academy 7-1.
Warsaw's Zack Tucker scored three goals in the win, while Nathan Kolbe scored two himself, while also getting an assist.
Also for Warsaw, Sam Albritten and Caleb Klusman scored and Albritten, Miguel Rivera and Diego Lopez each got an assist.
In defeat, LCA's Billy Pitts scored off an assist from Logan Pitts.
The Tigers travel to Fort Wayne Tuesday to take on Class 1A No. 5 Fort Wayne Canterbury.
Next up for LCA is a road game at Manchester Tuesday.

The fifth-ranked Warsaw boys cross county team finished second in the Class AAA division of Saturday's New Prairie Invitational. Third-ranked Valparaiso won the division with 49 points, while Warsaw tallied 104, led by overall champion Jacob Poyner, who won in 15:35.7. Also for Warsaw, Ellis Coon finished fifth in 15:47.3 and Robert Murphy placed 10th in 16:05.3. The meet also featured a freshman/sophomore race, which Warsaw won, led by Owen Glogovksy, who won in 16:49.6. The Tigers will be at Wawasee Tuesday for a Northern Lakes Conference meet.

For the first time since her sophomore season, Warsaw senior Ashley Erba had to settle for second place Saturday. At the New Prairie Invitational, which features over 100 schools, Erba's time of 17:25.1 was runner-up for Mishawaka's Anna Rohrer, who won in 17:14.1. As a team, No. 12 Warsaw finished fourth behind No. 10 Eastern, No. 8 Northridge and No. 18 Valparaiso in the Class AAA Large School Division. Warsaw will be at Wawasee Tuesday for a Northern Lakes Conference meet.
