Warsaw's Coon, Grose Make Collegiate Choices Official

Warsaw Community High School senior basketball players Jordyn Coon and Lucas Grose each signed on to join collegiate basketball programs Friday afternoon.
Prior to kick-starting the season Nov. 23 at Tippecanoe Valley, Coon signed on to attend Bethel College next season while Grose will be at Division-II Hillsdale College.
“I’m happy with it,” Coon said about his decision to attend Bethel. “I was there for their summer camp and I just fit in well with the coaches.”
Bethel coach Mike Lightfoot was also on hand for the signing of Coon, who averaged nine points and four rebounds last season.
“We see a lot of upside with him,” Lightfoot said about Coon, who plans to major in pre-law. “He also fills a role we need. He’s got size and is athletic. We’ve seen him play of lot throughout his career and during AAU basketball. He worked with us during the summer, and I know he’ll be a good fit.”
While Coon is going to be able to stay close to home to play ball, Grose, who averaged 11 points and seven rebounds a year ago, is going a little farther away, about two hours north of Warsaw to Hillsdale, Mich.
“During my top 100 workout last year, they really began to recruit me heavily,” Grose said about Hillsdale moving into the picture during his workout in Indianapolis at Ben Davis High School. “After I visited in the summer, I liked their academics too, because I want to major in pre-med. They have strong academics and I fit in well with the basketball team.”
