Warsaw senior Rachel Alexander was the only local player to have success in the second round of the Northern Lakes Conference Girls Tennis Championships Wednesday in Warsaw. Playing back at the Warsaw Tennis and Fitness Club, Alexander defeated Concord’s Holly Angel 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, moving into today’s championship match against Plymouth’s Jessica Stillson. During the regular season, Alexander handled Stillson 6-1, 6-2 at the Tiger Courts. The NLC tournament will wrap up today back in Warsaw, at the high school if weather permits or back at the tennis club if not. Also in the second round, Warsaw senior Sarah Boyle was defeated 6-3, 6-2 by Elkhart Memorial’s Corinn Whittaker. Boyle will now face Goshen’s Kathleen Morrical in the third-place match today.
