NAPPANEE — The Class 2A No. 3 Warsaw boys soccer team improved its Northern Lakes Conference record to 3-0-1 Tuesday in Nappanee. Taking on the NorthWood Panthers, Warsaw actually found itself down 2-1, before Diego Lopez tied it up with a goal in the 63rd minute and Ethan Goodman scored the winning goal with nine minutes remaining. Lopez finished the game with two wins, while Matt Williams got the assist on Goodman’s. In the net, Warsaw’s Michael Yantz posted four saves. The Wawasee boys cross country team got a split at Tuesday’s three-team Northern Lakes Conference meet at Elkhart’s Ox Bow Park. While narrowly falling to Concord (27-28), the Wawasee Warriors did get a 18-41 win over NorthWood. Placing four runners in the top six, Wawasee was paced by Zack Cockrill, who finished third in 17:58. Wawasee hosts Warsaw Tuesday. On the par-36 course, Manchester’s Lindsey Budnik was the medalist with a 40, followed by teammate Claire Barnett’s 42 and Jasmine Whitaker’s 45. Triton’s low score was a 49, shot by Hannah Jennings.
