A Warsaw woman was ordered to pay more than $200,000 restitution for failing to deliver products to 121 consumers.

Nikki Brindle, of 2603 E. Pine Drive, Warsaw, was ordered by the Kosciusko Circuit Court to pay $239,451.84 to 121 people. Brindle failed to deliver laptop computers and cameras to customers who purchased the items on eBay.

Brindle also was barred from selling products over the Internet until the judgment has been paid in full. She also was ordered to pay the state costs of $1,000.

"This case points out the potential risks associated with purchasing items from individual sellers online," said Attorney General Steve Carter. "It also highlights the importance of covering all your bases when shopping online; know who you are dealing with, look into insurance options and ratings while on Internet auction sites, and never spend more than you are willing to lose."

Brindle was ordered to pay monthly payments of $500 to the attorney general's office. The money will then be distributed to consumers, most of whom live in other states. The restitution amounts range from $8 to $2,880.

The lawsuit began when consumers sought help from the attorney general after products, including laptop computers and camcorders, they bought were not delivered and refunds were not given.

Brindle was ordered to make payments on the first of every month. If she fails to pay by the fifth of any month, the entire amount of the judgment will be due within 10 days of the missed payment.
