Warsaw Board of Zoning Appeals approved a variance to allow an office building in a heavy industrial-zoned district in Warsaw Tuesday.
The current PayLeap office is on US 30 and company officials would like to move it to 455 W. CR 250N. The building currently is vacant and was previously occupied by the Car Company and is located south of Mutual Bank.Attorney Steve Snyder, representing Solid Rock Real Estate Investments LLC, requested a variance of use to permit an office building at the location.
Solid Rock Real Estate Investments purchased the property with the intent to lease it to PayLeap, a competitor of PayPal, that accepts various forms of payment using the Internet for e-Bay purchases.
"The move will not diminish adjacent property values, but enhance them," Snyder said.
PayLeap has 10-12 employees and needs a location where a fiber optic line is in place and there is a place for computer servers.
The district had site-specific zoning for a scrap yard, and it was deemed appropriate at the time due to its placement, limited road and pedestrian access and buffered view.
The site is suited for either commercial or industrial uses, according to Warsaw City Planner Jeremy Skinner.
