Warsaw Woman Reports Attempted Rape

Posted

A Warsaw woman reported an attempted rape Saturday but the investigation by the Warsaw Police Department was inconclusive.

According to a WPD report, police were contacted at 8:05 p.m. Saturday by the victim, who said she wanted to report a rape. Upon arrival at a Warsaw grocery, where she had made the telephone call, police found the woman crying.

She told officers she was staying at a friend's apartment while her boyfriend was away.

The victim told officers no intercourse took place and she could not recall when the assault occurred. She was unable to tell officers her address because she lived at several different places recently.

She then went with officers and identified the apartment where the alleged rape attempt took place. Upon arrival, officers found two men sitting on the porch, including the suspect, who appeared to be "quite intoxicated" and provided little information on the incident other than "nothing happened."

According to the report, the victim told police the incident began as consentual but she changed her mind. She asked for her diet pills for an alleged eating disorder and told officers she wanted to kill herself.

Officers transported her to Bowen Center for a 24-hour emergency commitment.

The investigation proved inconclusive, according to the police report, and the victim was advised to speak to the prosecutor's office if she wished to pursue charges.
