The crash occurred on U.S. 30 near Van Ness Road at about 5:23 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.

When emergency personnel arrived on the scene, they found a white 2023 Nissan, which had been traveling east on U.S. 30 when it collided with the rear of a green 2017 Volvo semi-tractor trailer for an unknown reason.

Amy R. Hall, 39, the front-seat passenger in the Nissan, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office as a result of extensive injuries suffered in the crash.

The Volvo was operated by Rodney T. White, 49, Fort Wayne, who was not injured in the collision.

The Nissan sustained extensive front-end and passenger-side damage in the crash. The Volvo sustained damage to the rear of the trailer.
