SYRACUSE — Warsaw Community High School has won the 2010-11 Northern Lakes Conference All-Sports Award. The Warsaw girls program won the award with 116 points, narrowly defeating Northridge, who tallied 115. On the boys side, the Tigers generated 128 points, followed by Concord’s 116 and Northridge’s 105. The title is the Lady Tigers sixth in the past 10 years, while the Warsaw boys broke Northridge’s four-year reign at the top of the conference. Points for the award are accumulated based on the performance of each school’s sport. For example, a first-place finish in volleyball earns a school 16 points, while a second gets 14, third gets 12 and so on. For the Warsaw girls, the Lady Tigers won the conference championship in track and was co-champs with Plymouth in tennis, earning 15 points. Along with the first-place finish, the Lady Tigers also finished second in volleyball, cross country and golf, as well as third in swimming and softball. The Lady Tigers also shared third place finish in soccer with Wawasee. The Wawasee Lady Warriors finished seventh in the conference with 66 points, winning the golf championship and sharing third in soccer and basketball. The Warsaw boys program took first place in soccer, basketball, golf and split the crown with Concord in track. The Tigers also finished second in swimming cross country and tennis, as well as third in wrestling. For Wawasee, the Warriors finished seventh, getting second place in football.
