Warsaw, Wawasee To Square Off In Tennis Sectional Final

The girls tennis championship match for the Warsaw Sectional is set. In Thursday night’s semifinals, Warsaw knocked off Tippecanoe Valley 5-0, while Wawasee handed Whitko a 3-2 defeat in the other semifinal. The Warsaw/Wawasee championship match will be today at 5 p.m. at the Tiger Courts. In their regular season meeting on April 25, Warsaw won 5-0 between the two squads. With a win today, Warsaw will claim its 23rd sectional crown and 13th straight. In Warsaw’s semifinals match, Sarah Boyle defeated Michelle Peters 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and the Lady Tigers No. 2 doubles team of Marley Smith and Olivia Wallin won 6-0, 6-0 against Kelsey Ball and Alexis Swihart. In Wawasee’s victory, Esther Hermann was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Laura Hippensteel at No. 1 singles, while Katy Ashpole and Priscilla Par won at No. 2 and 3 singles, respectively. The winner of today’s match will advance to the Culver Girls Academy Regional Tuesday to face either Plymouth or Triton, who also play their championship match today in Bremen. Thursday in Bremen The Triton girls tennis team advanced to today’s Bremen Sectional championship match following a 4-1 win over John Glenn Thursday.
