GOSHEN - The Warsaw Tigers boys track and field team took third place at the Goshen Sectional and will be represented in seven events at the Kokomo Regional.
Individually, Warsaw senior Nate West captured a sectional championship, winning the 3200 in 10:00.56, while Warsaw junior Robert Strahan also advanced to Thursday's regional by placing second in the 200 and fourth in 100, as any competitor finishing in the top four of an event moves on.
Other regional qualifiers for the Tigers were sophomore Spencer Rheinhardt (800), junior Jordan Scroggs (3200), senior Nick Harman (high jump), sophomore Cameron Fritzel (shot put) and the 3200 relay of Trevor Callahan, Jacob Poyner, Rheinhardt and Jeremiah Stichter.
Wawasee's Ben Klaybor scored three of his team's five points, clearing six feet in the high jump, finishing in sixth place.
The Kokomo Regional begins at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The Plymouth Pilgrims boys track and field team won its own sectional Thursday, scoring 138 points, while the Triton Trojans came in second with 101. The Tippecanoe Valley Vikings took fifth with 61 points and the Manchester Squires finished eighth with 36. Triton took three championships at the event, with Darrick Ameigh winning the 300 hurdles (41.36) and long jump (20-0), and Clay Yeo clearing 6-2 at high jump, taking first. Tippecanoe Valley's Gunnar Kaiser won the 800 in a time of 2:00.90 and Manchester's Trae Bruce was the sectional champion in the 110 hurdles, winning in 16.25 seconds. The champions, as well as those placing through fourth place, will be at the Kokomo Regional Thursday at 6 p.m.

Triton's Cameron Garey drove in Zeth Hoffer in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Trojans a 10-9 home win over Bethany Christian Thursday. Marc Lindsey was the game's winning pitcher, while he also hit a double, along with Victor Vuittonet, Hoffer and Garey. Garey finished the game 2 for 4 with five RBIs and Hoffer had a 3-for-4 night with three runs and three RBIs. The 7-15-1 Trojans travel to Culver tonight for 4:30 p.m. Northern State Conference game.

The Warsaw Tigers boys golf team closed out its Northern Lakes Conference regular season at 7-0, defeating Elkhart Memorial 156-167 Thursday at Christiana Creek Country Club. Warsaw's Tyler Ostrom and Tim Ahlersmeyer each shot a 38 on the par-36 course, while junior varsity player Justin Self shot a 35. In the jv match, which saw the Tigers defeat their varsity, Self shot one-under par with four birdies, two pars and three bogies. Warsaw hosts the NLC Championships Saturday at Stonehenge Golf Club.

Goshen Lady Redskins junior pitcher Natalie Newell whiffed 19 Wawasee Lady Warriors in a 6-0 win in Syracuse Thursday. Wawasee's only offense came from Crystal DeLaFuente and Shelby Newhard, who each hit singles. The 12-12 (6-8 NLC) Warriors are back in action tonight at Bremen.

Warsaw defeated Wawasee 5-0 at Warsaw back on April 29.
