Warsaw To Study Annexation Request

Warsaw City Council tonight will review a request for voluntary annexation of property.

Petitioners James and Nancy Miner are proposing property north of Symmetry Medical on Ind. 15N be annexed to allow them to build a new home. The property is currently zoned agricultural, and the petitioners are requesting the property be zoned residential.The city council reviewed the request at its June 2 meeting. A public hearing will be tonight.

An existing 12-foot sanitary sewer main runs along the west side of Ind. 15. Warsaw is currently working to construct a sewer main that will run north on the east side of Ind. 15 and connect into the existing 12-foot sewer main.

Approximately 235 feet of Ind. 15N will be brought into the city limits, however, the road will be maintained by the state, according to planning information.

Also during the meeting, the city will review a traffic ordinance request to eliminate on-street parking along the east and west side of Logan Street from Eagle Street south to Rozella Road.

Warsaw Traffic Commission at its June 5 meeting approved the commission submitting the ordinance to the council for approval.

The proposed traffic ordinance also recommends parking spaces on the east and west side of High Street north of Market Street south of the first east/west alley be included in two-hour parking for downtown.

Several tax abatement requests also will be reviewed, including Zimmer Production Inc., Othy Inc. and Dalton Corp.

The council will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at city hall.

City Council members are Jerry Patterson, Charlie Smith, Joe Thallemer, Jeff Grose, Kyle Babcock and Bill Rhoades.
