CULVER — Losing one-set leads on three different courts, the Warsaw girls tennis team had its season come to a close Tuesday in the semifinals of the Culver Girls Academy Regional. Losing to Peru 4-1, Warsaw seniors Jacqueline Sasso and Sarah Boyle each won the opening set at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, but fell in the next two, as did the No. 2 doubles tandem of senior Abbi Baum and freshman Athena Schlitt. Warsaw’s point came at No. 3 singles, where senior Rachel Alexander got a 6-2, 6-3 victory. Warsaw’s season ends at 7-9, while Peru moves on to face CGA today, as the host Lady Eagles downed Bremen 4-1, Tuesday. Individually, Wawasee senior Katy Ashpole advanced at No. 1 singles, defeating Whitko’s Mikayla Findley 6-0, 6-2. PERU 4, WARSAW 1 (CGA Regional, Semifinal) SINGLES: No. 1 – Madison Deniston (P) def.
