Warsaw Tennis Team Advances To Regional FinalsCULVER – The Warsaw boys tennis team will play for its ninth regional crown today at Culver Military Academy.
Warsaw advanced to today’s championship match by putting Peru away 5-0 Tuesday in Culver.
The No. 14 CMA Eagles advanced to the title tilt by downing Plymouth 4-1 in Tuesday’s other semifinal.
During the regular season, the two squads met on Aug. 29 in Culver, with the host Eagles claiming a 4-1 victory.
Against Peru, Warsaw wasn’t forced to a third set on any of the five courts, advancing to 12-2 on the year.
On the No. 1 courts, Warsaw’s Kyle Wettschurack was a 6-1, 6-4 victor at singles, while AJ Herendeen and Sam Rice won 6-0, 6-4 at doubles.
In individual regional play, Tippecanoe Valley’s Nick Kindig, Manchester’s Connor Eichenauer each fell, while Triton’s doubles team of Jeff Ross and Pete Kauffman won.
Ross and Kauffman defeated Maconaquah’s Chris Ayers and Adam Harts 6-3, 6-2 and will await their next opponent.
