A Warsaw teen was arrested for rape after allegedly having sex with a drunk woman who told him to stop at least once.
Todd Lynn Cornett II, 18, of 1022 E. Market St., Warsaw, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 12:27 p.m. Friday on one count of rape, a level 3 felony. His bond was set at $25,250.
On June 25, Warsaw Police Department officer Daniel Clemens responded to a report of a rape and spoke with the victim. She said she went to a party on June 23 at Cornett’s residence on East Market Street.
In the early morning hours of June 24, she became very intoxicated and Cornett offered to help her to the restroom, according to court documents filed Thursday. When she got to the restroom, she blacked out and the next thing she remembered was being dragged outside and put into the back of a truck by Cornett, and then she blacked out again.
The next thing the victim remembered was waking up inside the truck and Cornett was touching her genitalia. She told Cornett to stop and he got on top of her and had sex with her anyway. She blacked out again, and when she woke up she was inside the residence with her clothes on. She reported having bruising on her legs and head and scratches on her inner thighs.
WPD detective Paul Heaton spoke with Cornett who admitted some friends and the victim came to his residence and they were drinking alcohol, according to court documents. Sometime in the middle of the night, he said he walked the woman to the bathroom and she was very drunk. He admitted to having sexual intercourse with the victim in his truck.
