Warsaw Swimmers Lead Local Roundup During Thursday night’s preliminary round of the Warsaw boys swim sectional, the hosting Warsaw Tigers advanced at least one swimmer in every event. At the prelims, the top eight finishers advance to Saturday’s championship heat, which begins at 1 p.m., while the ninth to 16th-place prelim finishers compete in the consolations. During the prelims, Warsaw’s 200 medley relay of Jayden Parrett, Spencer Davidson, Caleb Snyder and Nate Stone finished first. Also finishing first for the Tigers were Davidson (200 IM, 100 breast) and Parrett (100 back). Tippecanoe Valley will also be represented in three events in Saturday’s championship heat, while Manchester will have one relay in the heat. At Thursday night’s Northridge Sectional prelims, the Wawasee boys swim team advanced to Saturday’s championship heat in eight events. In order to qualify to the championship heat, a swimmer must finish in the top eight at the prelims, while places nine to 16 will compete in Saturday’s consolation heat, which begins at 1 p.m. At the prelims, Wawasee’s Luke Smith finished first in the 50 free, and also advanced to the championship heat in the 100 free, while also being a part of the 200 free and 400 free relays. The Wawasee boys basketball team closed its Northern Lakes Conference season out with a 69-45 loss at Plymouth Thursday night. The Warsaw gymnastics team posted a 92.95-67.5 victory at West Noble Thursday night. Winning the vault (8.4), bars (7.9) and beam (7.6), as well as placing second for her floor routine (8.1), Warsaw’s Brittany Sherman was the top finisher in the all-around with a score of 32.0.
