Warsaw Swim Teams Lead Roundup With Sweeps Of Manchester

NORTH MANCHESTER — In their first dual meet of the season, the Warsaw swim teams fared very well at Manchester Tuesday night.
In the boys meet, the Warsaw Tigers won 142-37, while the Warsaw Lady Tigers were 131-44 victors over the Manchester counterparts.
For the Warsaw boys, Jayden Parrett, Spencer Davidson, J.D. French, Zach Taylor, Matt Wildman and Ethan Cook were each a part of three first-place finishes, helping the Tigers sweep the meet.
Individually, Taylor won both the 200 IM (2:09.71) and 100 fly (57.95), while Parrett won the 100 back (54.34), Spencer Davidson the 100 breast (1:00.60), French the 100 free (54.68), Wildman the 50 free (24.44) and Cook the 200 free (1:58.74).
Parrett, Davidson, Taylor and Wildman were the winning 200 medley relay, Parrett, Cook, French and Davidson won the 400 free relay and the foursome of French, Mac Pelo, Cook and Wildman took first in the 200 free.
Also winning for Warsaw was Hudson Snyder in the 500 free (5:19.74).
The Warsaw girls also swept every event, as Brenna Morgan, Cynthia Juarez and Erin Sandberg were each a part of four victories.
Each girl won two individual events, as Morgan took the 50 free (25.80) and 100 free (56.50), Juarez won the 200 free (2:10.17) and 500 free (5:47.15) and Sandberg finished first in the 200 IM (2:27.85) and 100 fly (1:08.21).
In the relays, the trio joined forces with Ashley Van Wormer to win the 200 free relay, while Sandberg and Morgan were joined by Jessica Haines and Van Wormer on the winning 200 medley. Finally, Juarez anchored the victorious 400 free relay, which also included Haines, Allison Thompson and Emily Thompson.
Also for the Lady Tigers, Haines won the 100 back (1:12.98) and Van Wormer finished first in the 100 breast (1:13.76).
Warsaw hosts Wawasee Saturday, with diving beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Tuesday in Syracuse
Hosting East Noble Tuesday, the 16th-ranked Wawasee girls swim team got the 129-57 win. Claiming four wins each for Wawasee were Breanna Robinson and Paige Miller. Both were a part of the winning 200 medley relay, with Shelby Adams and Kendra Miller, as well as the winning 400 free relay, along with Kayla Hershberger and Adams. Individually, Robinson won the 100 fly (57.38) and 100 back (57.20), while Miller took first in the 500 free (5:16.06) and 200 free (2:00.23). The Wawasee girls will be joined by the boys team for a Northern Lakes Conference meet at Warsaw Saturday morning.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Tuesday in Nappanee
The Class 1A No. 10 Triton girls basketball team had Class 3A No. 9 NorthWood down for much of the game Tuesday in Nappanee, but fell 47-42. Triton led 35-27 going into the final quarter, but NorthWood rallied to get the win, dropping the Lady Trojans to 2-2 on the year. In defeat, junior Kylie Mason netted 15 points, senior Taylor Hatfield scored 13 and junior Krystal Sellers posted 10. The Lady Trojans are off until Monday’s home game against Bethany Christian.

The Manchester wrestling team opened its season with a 62-10 loss at Peru Tuesday night. For Manchester, Bryce Zook won by major decision at 126 points and Neil Snep got a pin at 220 pounds. The Manchester Squires will take part in the Wabash County Meet on Dec. 7 at Northfield High School.
