TERRE HAUTE – Warsaw Community High School students participated in Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology’s 47th annual High School Mathematics Competition Saturday.
Alek Jansen, WCHS senior, tied for second among all seniors competing. He missed only one problem, according to Lorinda Kline, Warsaw Community Schools instructional coach.
Noah Williams, WCHS sophomore, also competed.
More than 400 students from 26 schools throughout Illinois, Ohio and Indiana participated.
Each school that participated in the one-hour contest could enter four students from each of the four high school grades.
Team awards were presented on the basis of the performance of the pre-selected team members.
The contest consisted of 20 multiple choice questions. Five points were awarded for a correct answer, a one-point penalty was assessed for each incorrect answer.
Individual awards were given for the top 12 scores in each year.
