Warsaw School Registration Open Online

Registration for Warsaw Community Schools for the 2012-13 school year is happening now online.

Chief Academics Officer David Hoffert said this is the first year WCS has conducted its registration online. The first few weeks, turnout has been good.

“We are not having a typical registration in the fall,” Hoffert said. “One of the big reasons is to help with everything from staffing to having the proper amount of materials for the 2012-13 school year. Schools still will have an open house type of activity at the start of the school year.”

The registration system is open 24 hours a day and accessible through the PowerSchool portal, a system already used by many parents. Parents can register all their children from one location with Internet access.

The online registration portal is open through June 7. Online registration is for parents who are registering current WCS students for the next grade and/or new students.

To register children using the new system, parents or guardians need to go to the website at http://powerschool.warsaw.k12.in.us

Parents can log on to the website using current ID usernames and passwords, or may acquire their username and password from their children’s home school. Parents of students new to the school corporation can contact their children’s school to request a password.

Each student to be registered requires a separate log in.

Hoffert said parents are not required to pay any registration fees at this time. Lunch account payments will be made in August, and textbook rental fees will be billed when class schedules are finalized.

Kindergarten parents are requested to register their child in person at their home school.

Half-day kindergarten program, pending enrollment, will be at Washington Elementary STEM Academy. The class will be based on the online enrollment on June 7. For more information about the half-day kindergarten, Hoffert said parents should contact Washington STEM Academy.

If a family does not have Internet access, all elementary school buildings and middle schools are open Tuesdays after school to 6:30 p.m. for assistance until June 5, Hoffert said.

Warsaw Community High School will release dates in June when that building will be open for assistance, Hoffert said.

“The hope is,” Hoffert said, “out of the roughly 7,000 Warsaw Community Schools students, we can get the majority registered online.”

For more information, parents can contact their local school or the Warsaw Central Office at 574-371-5098.
