Warsaw School Board Candidate Forum Thursday

Posted
Ten candidates are vying for four seats on the Warsaw School Board this fall.

Thursday at 7 p.m., a candidate forum will be at Lakeview Middle School so the public can find out more about those candidates.

"The purpose of the forum is for the public to meet the candidates in their district and all the districts," said Terry Sims, Warsaw Community Education Association president.

The WCEA is sponsoring this year's candidate forum, along with the American Association of University Women, OrthoWorx and the Times-Union.

Sims said the format for the forum has changed a little bit from the past. The last forum was held in 2008.

The forum will start in the LMS auditorium. Warsaw Community Schools Superintendent Dr. Craig Hintz will provide opening statements. Brad Bishop, executive director of OrthoWorx, also will give a statement on OrthoWorx.

After their remarks, each of the candidates then will have two minutes to make opening statements. Once all the candidates are finished, the candidates and the audience will be directed to four different rooms, each room representing a district.

Each room will have its own moderator. The moderator will ask the candidates four different questions submitted by the four different sponsors. At the end of the questioning period, the public will have an opportunity to ask one or two questions. The candidates will be timed in their responses.

Once the public question period is over, each candidate will be given a chance to make closing remarks.

Sims said the forum should be over by 8:30 p.m.District 1 candidates are Matt Dick, Teresa J. Cosgrove and Raphael Wolff, all of Warsaw.

District 2 candidates are Delores Hearn (incumbent), Leesburg, and Courtney Walters, Warsaw.

District 5 candidates are Tammy Dalton (incumbent) and Monica Boyer, both of Warsaw, and Jennifer Tandy, Winona Lake.

District 7 candidates are Landon Martin and Dan J. Metzger, both of Silver Lake.
