Warsaw Rotary Club Held 'Rotary Toy Day'

Posted
The Warsaw Rotary Club held its annual “Rotary Toy Day” at its regular meeting Friday.

The event was started in 1927 when the club gathered toys for the annual Salvation Army outreach to those in need. Each year the club has designated a day to collect toys for children now distributed through the Angel Tree program. “We have looked through the records of the club and even during the Great Depression in the 1930s when the club almost folded, Rotarians collected gifts for those in need,” said John Hall, co-chairman of the club’s Salvation Army committee.

The Salvation Army anticipates helping more than 800 children this year and encourages everyone to drop a toy off at The Salvation Army by Friday.
