Warsaw Roads

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

Here's a suggestion about the poor condition of Warsaw's roads. For those of you who have not traveled to Europe, the roads there are smooth, pot-hole free, and it is a pleasure and a joy to drive on them. So why can't our roads be like this, too? We are no longer a one-horse cow town. Because Warsaw is the orthopedic capital of the world, we are receiving guests from many nations.

Here is my suggestion to the powers that be: Send a couple of people over to Europe to learn how to construct well-built roads. And, please don't offer the silly excuse that "Warsaw is built on a swamp." And, for those who think Europe does not have winters like ours with freezing and thawing, go over there and see what the winters are like. Some of the countries in Europe have more severe weather than we do.

Aren't we tired of watching someone with a shovel filling a pot-hole with asphalt? We are tired of it because we know that in a few weeks the hole will be larger and deeper. Oh, my, there goes another front-end alignment.

How many months was CR 250E closed while a new road was built? This road is already disintegrating. So it would be money well-spent to actually find out how to build smooth roads that last. Just a suggestion. I hope someone reads this.
