Warsaw Plans Street Projects

Street projects in downtown Warsaw will mean changes for drivers as some streets are resurfaced and others undergo complete renovations.

According to Warsaw Street Department superintendent Kim Leake, five downtown blocks will be milled and repaved Wednesday. On that day there will be no on-street parking on the following streets: two blocks of Market Street, from Indiana to Lake streets; Lake Street, from Market to Center streets; and Center Street, from Lake to Columbia streets.

One block of Center Street in front of the courthouse, between Buffalo and Lake streets and including the intersections, will be closed beginning Wednesday for at least 30 days for a complete renovation, Leake said.

The renovation project will include installing new sewer, storm and sanitary lines; repaving; new curbs, sidewalks and brick crosswalks; and ornamental lighting, benches and trash receptacles.

Leake said the renovation is part of a downtown rehabilitation project that will take place gradually over the next few years. The cost of the project is approximately $100,000 per block.
