An open house is scheduled for downtown Warsaw June 17, with participating merchants offering store sales, giveaways and refreshments to customers.
Beginning at 11 a.m., vendors will place outside seating in front of stores along Center and Buffalo streets for a Parisian-styled atmosphere. French cuisine will be served, as well as coffee, tea and other beverages. Live music also is to take place throughout the area.
The event is to wrap up at approximately 4 p.m., though many merchants will stay open for later evening hours.
"This day is an opportunity to get acquainted with the downtown merchants," Carmen Lock, director of Warsaw Community Development Corp., said. "This is for coming to downtown and being surprised, because most people don't know what the area has to offer."
The WCDC-coordinated event is the first to take place this year. Additional festivals, concerts and open houses are scheduled throughout the rest of 2006.
"We want people to see what has popped up recently," Dana Breading, WCDC member and manager of Merle Norman, said. "People don't have to go to the big city to find fine, quality items. It's time to rediscover downtown."
