Warsaw Netters Trounce LaPorte

LaPorte - Craig Harman defeated Matt Hooves at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-4 as Warsaw defeated LaPorte on Saturday 5-0.

In junior varsity action, LaPorte defeated Warsaw 4-1. The Tigers only win came at No. 2 doubles. Rob Tidmore and Travis Yoder beat Pete Belwoski and Matt Presley 8-7.

Warsaw (4-1) will be at Culver Military Academy tonight.

• Volleyball

Triton At Knox Tournament

At Knox, the Triton volleyball team, ranked No. 9 in class A, split two matches on Saturday at the Knox Tournament.

Mishawaka Marian defeated Triton in the first game 14-16, 15-9, 15-5. Megan Sarber had 10 kills and three aces, while Heather Barron added 23 assists.

In game two, Triton beat Goshen 15-4, 16-14 behind Barron's 12 assists and four aces.

Triton (6-3) will host Knox on Wednesday.

NorthWood Over South Bend Adams 15-8, 15-1

At South Bend, Jamie Gill had nine kills as NorthWood improved to 7-1 on the season.

Tiffany Glingle added four assists and four digs in the win.

The junior varsity team defeated Adams 15-3, 15-11. Kasey Chamberlin and Shelly Stichter each had five kills in the win.

NorthWood will be at South Bend Riley on Tuesday.

Manchester At Logansport Tournament

At Logansport, Manchester went 1-3 at the Logansport Tournament on Saturday.

Michelle Gerber had 16 kills and 18 blocks on the day, while Lucianna Leao added 10 kills and four aces.

Manchester defeated Taylor 15-4, 15-12, but lost to Northwestern 15-10, 15-11. The Squires also lost to Elkhart Memorial 15-1, 15-11 and Huntington North 10-15, 15-11, 15-3.

Manchester (6-5) will host Columbia City on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Wawasee Over

Northridge 15-10, 15-12

Lydia Carpenter had 13 kills and six blocks as Wawasee defeated Northridge on Saturday. Kara Mathew added six kills in the win.

The Northridge junior varsity squad defeated Wawasee 5-15, 15-7, 15-12. The Wawasee JV team fell to 4-8 on the season.

Wawasee (5-7) will host Goshen on Thursday at 6 p.m.

• Girls Soccer

Warsaw 5, Plymouth 0

Warsaw stayed undefeated with a victory over Plymouth on Saturday at Senior Night.

Five different players scored goals for the Tigers. They were Krista Coppes, Rachel Buhrt, Bobbi Wildman, Jodi Wildman and Mandy Bruggeman. Sarah Barber picked up her second shutout of the season.

In junior varsity action, Plymouth defeated Warsaw 4-2. Carlie Shaffer scored on an assist from Ashley Woodward and Woodward followed with a goal later.

Warsaw will host Bethany Christian at the CCAC on Thursday at 5 p.m.

• Boys Soccer

Elkhart Baptist 4, Wawasee 2

At Elkhart, Niko Ioannon scored a goal and added an assist to John Szynal, but Wawasee still lost on Saturday.

Elkhart Baptist led 3-0 after the first half, but Wawasee cut the lead to 3-2 before falling.

Wawasee (1-4) will host Huntington North at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

• Girls Golf

Valley, NorthWood At

CGA Invitational

At Culver, NorthWood placed third with a 385 and Valley placed 11th with a 465 at the CGA Invitational on Saturday. Concordia won the event with a 374.

Mary Gast and Wendy Tilden each shot a 112 for the Vikings.

Valley will be at Sycamore Golf Course on Tuesday for a match with Whitko and NorthWood will be at Sprig-O-Mint Golf Course today for a match with LaVille and Marian at 4:30 p.m.

Triton At Caston Invitational

At Fulton, the Triton boys cross country team placed fourth out of 13 teams with 111 points on Saturday. Winamac won the event with 72 points.

Mason McIntyre placed second overall with a time of 17:15.

The Triton girls placed ninth out of 11 teams with 156 points. Winamac also won the girls meet with 101 points.

Shelly Miller placed second overall with a time of 16:30.

In junior varsity action, the Triton boys placed third of five teams with 62 points, led by Rob Salyer's fifth place finish in a time of 20:23. Lewis Cass won the JV event with 34 points.

Triton will host Culver Military and Culver Girls Academy on Tuesday at 4:45 p.m.

At Erskine, NorthWood went 2-2 at a five team meet on Saturday.

The Panthers defeated Mishawaka Marian 20-35 and LaVille 15-50. NorthWood lost to South Bend Adams 18-43 and Michigan City 23-32.

Aaron Hoover placed fourth overall with a time of 17:50.
