Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins attended a conference in Washington, D.C., in July to discuss economic development issues.
Wiggins met with legislators and 30 northern Indiana Chamber of Commerce representatives.
This was the first year for the conference, held July 23-24 at the state capitol in Washington, D.C.
Wiggins joined with Chamber of Commerce representatives from Goshen, Elkhart, LaPorte and St. Joseph County and Elkhart Mayor David Miller.
The officials left on a charter plane at the South Bend Regional Airport July 23, returning July 24.
Warsaw/Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce President Joy McCarthy-Sessing and Wiggin's wife, Deb, representing Warsaw Community School Corp., also attended.
"The conference was a beneficial networking opportunity to meet with regional representatives and discuss issues that are important nationally and in our region," Wiggins said.
The representatives discussed issues such as immigration, transportation, health care and the workforce.
Those who attended had the opportunity to meet with Congressmen Joe Donnelly and Mark Souder and U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar to discuss economic development in their communities.
