Warsaw Man Killed In Tuesday CollisionA 22-year-old Warsaw man was killed Tuesday on Ind. 13 in a two-vehicle collision.

A news release Wednesday from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased as Robert M. Porter.

At about 1:21 p.m. Tuesday, the 911 Communications Center received multiple calls regarding a collision between a semi-tractor/trailer and a sport utility vehicle in the 5000 block of South Ind. 13. Emergency personnel from multiple agencies were dispatched to the scene.

According to the KCSO Fatal Team, a northbound black Chevrolet Suburban, driven by Porter, crossed the center line of Ind. 13 for an unknown reason. The Suburban struck a 2000 Peterbilt semi-tractor, owned by Deatsman Farms.

As a result of the collision, Porter suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the Peterbilt, identified as Brian Mikel, 65, of New Paris, did not suffer any injuries in the crash.

Along with the KCSO, responding agencies included Indiana State Police, Pierceton Police Department, Lutheran EMS, Sidney Fire Department, Pierceton Fire Department and the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.

This matter remains under investigation by the KCSO Fatal Team.
