A Warsaw man is in custody this morning after he allegedly robbed Walgreen Drug Store at gunpoint Monday night.

David Eugene Buell, 30, of 5019 E. CR 300N, Warsaw, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 2:09 a.m. today for one count of robbery while armed with a deadly weapon and theft. He is being held without bond. The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department received a call about a red pickup truck being taken from a residence at 5019 E. CR 300N, Warsaw, without the owner's permission. The owner, Dan Buell, said he believed the truck was taken by his brother, David Buell.

Shortly after that call, an employee of Walgreen's called 911 to report that the pharmacy had been robbed at gunpoint.

A man with a white cloth covering his face reportedly entered the store and quickly approached the consultation window. Once he received three bottles of Oxycontin, he ran from the store.

One of the employees of the store watched the robber leave the store with a gun, and the employee then followed the man on foot. The robber went to a red pickup truck, which later was determined to be the one taken earlier, and left.

A little while later, the person who reported the truck missing called the dispatch center to report that the truck had been returned.

When members of the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police and Winona Lake Police Department went to the residence, David Buell was outside. When he saw police, he reportedly took off on foot.

Officers followed David Buell on foot, and during the chase, Buell allegedly threw three bottles of Oxycontin away from him.

When David Buell was taken into custody, officers found several .410 shotgun rounds in his pocket, and a shotgun was found in the truck.

After David Buell was caught and taken into custody, he was interviewed by Warsaw Police Detective Sgt. Bryan Sherwin. David Buell reportedly admitted to the robbery during the interview.

All the stolen medication was recovered except one pill that was taken by David Buell.

David Buell recently was released from prison for his involvement in a 2004 robbery at Zale Pharmacy. In that incident, David Buell went into the store wielding a tire iron and demanded methadone.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department and Indiana State Police assisted the Warsaw Police Department with the case.
