Warsaw Man Faces Multiples ChargesA Warsaw man is facing an assortment of charges, including one with a $100,250 bond for failure to appear for a Feb. 22 court date.
Ryan Paul Nicholas Rautenberg, 31, of 342 S. CR 325E, Warsaw, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 7:46 p.m. Thursday for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana/hash oil/hashish, domestic battery and failure to appear on a felony charge. His total preliminary bond was set at $107,000, including the $100,250 for failure to appear on the felony charge.
He had an initial hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. Feb. 22 on previous charges of battery while armed with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor. He failed to show for that hearing, and Kosciusko County Superior Court II Judge Torrey J. Bauer issued a warrant for Rautenberg’s arrest with a $100,000 surety and $250 cash bond.
In that case, on Feb. 5 Warsaw Police officer Jacob Metzger responded to a battery at McDonald’s, 3611 Commerce Drive, Warsaw. He saw two women arguing in the parking lot. They were identified as Leanora Rautenberg and the victim. The victim had welts, swelling, redness and scratches on her forearms.
The victim told Metzger she was in her vehicle when Leanora and her husband, Ryan Rautenberg, approached her vehicle. Ryan had a yellow children’s shovel and was hitting her vehicle. He began to poke her with the shovel and the victim grabbed a hammer to protect herself. Ryan reached into the vehicle to take the hammer and tried to drag her through the open window of her vehicle. He then began hitting her.
Leanora alleged the victim grabbed a hammer and Ryan attempted to disarm the victim and they got into a physical altercation. Ryan took the hammer and fled.
Surveillance video from McDonald’s showed the victim’s version of the events was more accurate.
The domestic battery charge, a Class A misdemeanor, against Rautenberg stems from an incident Feb. 10.
WPD officer Zackery Smith was dispatched to a viaduct at Argonne Road north of East Winona Avenue. He met with Leanora, who appeared “very intoxicated” and said she had been drinking, according to court documents.
She said that on Feb. 9, her former husband, Ryan, had hit her several times. She said he had a metal T-ball bat and hit her with it. She showed Smith bruises on the side of her stomach.
On Feb. 10, she said, Ryan told her to drink a “special” drink, which caused her to become intoxicated. She said they were in the old Gatke building and that Ryan had been chasing her around the building. She said Ryan pushed her down onto the ground several times.
She left the Gatke building to try and get away from Ryan but he pushed her down again near Argonne Road. She ran toward traffic and got a vehicle to stop and help her. Ryan fled the area on foot.
She said Ryan lived in a tent behind Bowers Jewelry, but police were unable to find him at that time.
Leanora was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital by EMS to examine her injuries.
