A Warsaw man was arrested Monday after allegedly holding a woman in her house against her will and injuring her.
Miguel Raymond Castro, 24, of 501 N. Harrison St., Warsaw, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 10:33 a.m. Monday for criminal trespass and battery. His preliminary bond was set at $600.
Court documents list the counts against Castro as criminal confinement, a level 5 felony; battery causing moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and intimidation, a level 6 felony.
On Monday, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department officer Michael Mulligan responded to a 911 call from a woman who said she was being held against her will, but then hung up. Central Dispatch determined where the call came from and sent the officer to the location.
Upon arriving at the home, Mulligan knocked on the door several times before the woman came out. She told the officer that Castro was inside the residence and that she had a no trespass order against him.
Castro had visited the woman’s home on Sunday and he told her he was going to fix things that he had broken on Jan. 22. Castro then became angry and allegedly head-butted the woman numerous times. On one occasion, he allegedly hit her with a phone. The woman told police she was having trouble hearing out of one of her ears as a result of the altercation.
She said Castro took her car keys and phone so she could not call or leave for help. He then took her and her baby to a bedroom and shut them inside.
The woman was able to find an old phone and called 911. When police arrived Monday, Castro told her if she said anything to the police he would tie up her and her son and also threatened to kill them and her family, court documents state.
The woman was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment. Medical personnel found the woman had a tear of her left eardrum.
In speaking with Castro, he admitted to officers he knew he was not suppose to be at the residence because there was a trespass warning. He also admitted he hid the woman’s keys under the sofa cushion, which officers found.
