A Warsaw man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a month-long investigation into his reported possession of child pornography.
Thomas Vincent Howard, 51, of 526 E. Anchorage Road, Warsaw, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a charge of child exploitation. His bond was set at $10,000.
On June 16, a cable company employee reportedly went to Howard's residence to install a high-speed Internet update. As the man tried to download new features on the computer, he said pop-up ads of child pornography involving young boys appeared on the screen.
The cable employee allegedly saw other photos on Howard's computer and stopped working on the machine. The employee contacted his supervisor and then reported the incident to his supervisor.
The Warsaw Police Department investigated the allegations, and a warrant to search Howard's home was issued July 3.
When Warsaw Police officers arrived at the residence, Howard reportedly was sitting at his computer looking at the screen.
When police seized the computer, Howard allegedly was in an online youth chat room. Printed materials reportedly found in Howard's home appeared to be photos of boys under 18 involved in various sex acts.
The computer's hard drive was sent to the South Bend Police Department's High Tech Crimes Unit for forensic analysis.
Pending the analysis of the computer, Howard may face more charges.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
