Thursday afternoon at around 5 p.m. officers from the Indiana State Police and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department investigated a fatal collision.
Thomas Witmer, 39, Warsaw, was killed when his Harley Davidson motorcycle collided with a Dodge SUV.
According to an ISP press release the driver of the Dodge, Arissa Grossman, 52, Akron, stopped at the intersection of Ind. 19 and then proceeded northbound onto Ind. 19. While attempting to turn she pulled out in front of Witmer. Witmer collided with the SUV and was ejected.
Witmer was pronounced dead at the scene by Fulton County Coroner Darin Becker. Witmer was wearing a helmet, but Witmer died of blunt force head trauma.
Grossman was not injured. Additionally Grosman was cited for failing to yield to cross traffic.
The ISP was assisted at the scene by the FCSD, Fulton County EMA, and the Akron Fire Department.
