On Monday at approximately 4:37 p.m., Warsaw police responded to a reported shooting at 1002 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw. Found at the scene was a 28-year-old male, identified as Travis A. Perney, a resident there. He had suffered a gunshot wound to his head. Multi-Township EMS and Warsaw fire personnel did stabilize Perney and he was immediately transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital and flown by Samaritan helicopter to Parkview North Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne, where he died in surgery. The preliminary investigation revealed Perney had some current relationship issues and was despondent, and the shooting was self-inflicted. The Warsaw Police Department Detective Division continues to investigate the matter. The Allen County Coroner’s office is assisting in the investigation. After reviewing results of testing done at Parkview Hospital, a final ruling will be determined by investigators.
