Warsaw Man Charged with Rape

Posted
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a Warsaw man on charges of rape Tuesday night.

Brian K. Knoop, 45, of 340 E. Levi Lee Road, Warsaw, was arrested and charged with rape resulting from an Oct. 1 incident in Kosciusko County.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Oct. 1 deputies responded to a mobile home park where they were informed that a woman was raped by Knoop. The woman said that she knew Knoop and that he came to her door and told her that the Chicago Bears were playing and they were winning.

At that time, the woman said that Knoop began to kiss and touch her without her consent. Knoop allegedly continued to force himself upon the woman  and he allegedly raped her before leaving the home.

When Knoop was interviewed by deputies, he claimed to have been in his home all night, except when he went out for an errand, but he came directly home and did not go to the woman’s home.

When deputies told him that there was a possibility for DNA testing, Knoop allegedly admitted that on his way back he stopped by the woman’s home because she flagged him down and then she forced herself on him. Knoop said that he did not go inside the home, instead he had sex in his vehicle.

Deputies also spoke with the 8-year-old son of the victim, who said Knoop came inside the residence and forced himself on the victim, even when she continually said no.

Knoop was transported to the Kosciusko County Jail on $20,000 bond.

As of press time, Knoop was incarcerated in the jail.
