Warsaw Man Charged With Child MolestingA Warsaw man was arrested on child molesting charges after police suspected he had sex with two girls.
Joshua Paul Denney, 36, of 218 S. Scott St., Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 7:54 p.m. Thursday and faces a Level 1 felony child molesting charge; Level 4 felony child molesting charge; and Class B felony sexual misconduct with a minor charge.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed March 30 in Kosciusko Superior Court I, on Feb. 5 police received a report of child molesting that had occurred from Child Protective Services after a girl allegedly told her parents she had been sexually abused by Denney.
On Feb. 8, a forensic interview was conducted with the child and the child allegedly said she was made to touch Denney’s privates and then described another incident where Denney had sexual intercourse with her.
According to the affidavit, the child said these events happened sometime between Jan. 1, 2016, and Dec. 31, 2017, when the child was 11 to 12 years old. The child told investigators the touching incidents occurred approximately five times, and the sexual intercourse occurred once.
According to court papers, during the course of the investigation, police learned of another possible victim of sexual abuse by Denney from speaking with other witnesses.
A second girl allegedly told police Denney made her perform oral sex on him on multiple occasions and described another event of sexual intercourse. That child told police the abuse took place between Jan. 1, 2010, and Dec. 31, 2011, prior to the child’s 16th birthday, according to court papers.
On Feb. 19, when police spoke with Denney, according to the affidavit, he admitted both girls’ stories were true. His bond was set at $50,250.
