Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Dept. deputies arrested a Warsaw man on several charges after an early morning domestic battery involving a handgun. Joseph Amanuel Hettinger, 33, was arrested this morning and preliminary charged with felony domestic battery and two counts of felony intimidation with a deadly weapon, after officers responded to a call of shots being fired. Deputies and Warsaw police officers responded to lot 686 in Westhaven Estates Mobile Home Park, West Old 30, Warsaw, at 1:21 a.m. today after receiving the report of shots fired. Officers were directed to a secondary mobile home lot where a female victim had fled from Hettinger, the alleged shooter. Officers located the victim, who stated that Hettinger was the individual who discharged the firearm. Arriving officers established a perimeter in the area and moments later located Hettinger, who was taken into custody without incident. Officers located several weapons at Hettinger’s residence, one of those being a Springfield 9mm handgun that was allegedly fired three times in an unknown direction. The victim and suspect were found to be bleeding and have minor injuries resulting from an earlier domestic dispute that escalated to a physical fight. The victim stated that she had fled the residence after Hettinger made comments that placed her in fear of her life. According to witnesses, Hettinger went to the residence where the victim had sought shelter and allegedly made a threatening action with a 12-gauge shotgun to that homeowner. Hettinger is currently being held on a $10,000 bond set by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office at the Kosciusko County Jail.
