Warsaw Man Arrested for Rape

Posted
Police have arrested a Warsaw man in connection to an alleged rape over the weekend.
Anthony Joseph Fulton, 24, of 221 N. Fort Wayne Avenue, Warsaw, was arrested following the Saturday evening incident and is charged with rape and criminal deviate conduct by force. Fulton is being held at the Kosciusko County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
Police were called to meet an adult female Saturday evening who advised that she had been assaulted and raped near Fort Wayne Avenue close to downtown Warsaw. She informed officers that she was walking to meet friends at the McDonald’s on Detroit Street when a male in a black hooded sweatshirt started following her. The suspect caught her and forced her between houses on Fort Wayne Avenue, where he forced sexual intercourse on her and then let her leave.
While police searched the area, they received a tip of a possible suspect staying two houses north of where the incident allegedly occurred.
Police made contact with Fulton and initially arrested him on charges of possession of a synthetic drug after officers located paraphernalia and a substance they believed to be a synthetic cannabinoid. Further investigation provided probable cause for the arrest of Fulton on the rape and criminal deviate sexual conduct charges.
Warsaw police were assisted in the investigation by the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
