A Warsaw man faces two felony charges after allegedly injuring a 2-year-old child. Bradley V. Waikel, 24, of 1470 E. CR 550S, Warsaw, is charged with felony neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury as well as felony battery of a child under the age of 14 resulting in serious bodily injury. The emergency room at Kosciusko Community Hospital contacted Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department detectives and the Indiana Department of Child Services Thursday shortly after 12:21 p.m. in regards to a 2-year-old in their care with multiple injuries. Officers spoke with the child’s mother, which led them to Waikel, who was a live-in boyfriend. Deputies interviewed Waikel at KCSD and subsequently booked him into Kosciusko County Jail on a $100,000 bond. The 2-year-old boy was transferred from KCH to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, suffering from multiple bruises and a skull fracture, according to a press release from KCSD. Detectives noted that the child suffered obvious injuries to his head and groin area. KCSD and Indiana DCS were also assisted in the investigation by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
