A Warsaw man faces a drug-dealing charge after allegedly having 14 pounds of marijuana delivered to his home.
Johnathan Tyler Mallery, 22, of 340 E. Levi Lee Road, Lot 67, Warsaw, faces a preliminary felony charge of dealing marijuana after federal agents followed a mailed package of marijuana from Texas to his Warsaw home and arrested him after he accepted the delivery.
He is being held in Kosciusko County Jail with no bail. The county prosecutor’s office has denied bond for 48 hours.
According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, sheriff’s deputies, county drug task force officers and United States postal inspectors performed federal and state search warrants on a package that arrived from Texas bound for a mobile home in the Whispering Pines Trailer Court Thursday. The department said it was contacted by the United States Postal Service after federal K-9s detected possible drugs inside a mailed package in Texas and Indiana.
That led federal and local police to deliver the package to Mallery’s address around 2:30 p.m. After he identified himself and accepted the package, Mallery was placed under arrest.
Police found 14 pounds of marijuana inside the package, the sheriff’s department said.
In addition to state charges, Mallery will likely face federal charges as a result of the drugs being shipped through the federal mail. That is under review.
