Warsaw Man Arrested After Allegedly Pointing Gun At WomanA Warsaw man was arrested on several charges after allegedly confronting a woman about cheating and threatening to kill her while pointing a gun at her.
Drew Adym Streeter, 36, of 204 N. Cheyenne Drive, Warsaw, is charged with rape, a Level 1 felony; criminal confinement, a Level 3 felony; intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony; strangulation, a Level 6 felony; and pointing a firearm, a Level 6 felony.
He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 8:39 a.m. Saturday on a $20,250 preliminary bond.
According to the probable cause affidavit, at approximately 7:41 a.m. Saturday, a Kosciusko County Sherriff’s Office deputy and a Winona Lake Police Department officer responded to a report of a domestic battery. Kosciusko County Dispatch said a woman was hiding in the basement with the door shut from the person who allegedly assaulted her, later identified as Streeter. The woman was with two possible other people. Dispatch told officers Streeter was trying to get into the basement and was possibly on methamphetamine. The dispatcher heard Streeter say “go ahead and shoot me now.”
The WLPD officer arrived at the scene first and saw the front door open. The officer called out to Streeter and asked him to come outside. Streeter responded he would, but did not go outside. The officer couldn’t see Streeter, but could hear things move inside the house. The officer then heard Streeter say “goodbye” and then went outside.
The officer did a pat down for weapons as other officers arrived to assist. Streeter said the woman was in the house with her four children.
After being read his Miranda rights, Streeter said he caught the woman cheating and recorded it. He confronted the woman about her cheating, which she initially admitted to, but later denied it. When asked for further details, Streeter didn’t want to answer any more questions.
An officer spoke with the woman who said she and Streeter were in an argument since 4 a.m. Saturday. She woke up to find Streeter missing from bed. She sat up and turned the lights on and saw Streeter sitting on the edge of the bed holding a piece of aluminum foil and a metal straw. The woman said it looked like Streeter was ingesting some type of narcotic.
The woman asked what he was doing and Streeter responded with “Where’s yours? I know you got it” and “where’s your dope?” He continued asking the questions for over an hour and continued to get angry.
The woman got up to leave the bedroom and Streeter grabbed a rifle from underneath the bed and said the woman wasn’t going anywhere. Streeter then pointed the gun at the woman and threatened to kill her. He then made her listen to a recording device, even though there was nothing on it. Streeter also hit the woman in the head about three or four times with the rifle.
Streeter made the woman go into the bathroom and listen to the recording again. Streeter yelled at the woman for not having the ear buds for the device in her ears far enough. The woman then said Streeter choked and smacked her.
The woman was able to fight for the rifle, get hold of it, put on pants and run into the basement and call 911.
An officer found a magazine of 24 bullets in a bedroom directly west of the bedroom where the incident occurred.
Streeter has a number of prior convictions for battery, public intoxication and more.
