Warsaw Library Gears Up For Summer Reading

Warsaw Community Public Library is gearing up for its summer reading program.

This year's program is June 8-July 18.

Online registration for the summer reading program begins Tuesday by registering online at www.warsawlibrary.com

Register in person at the library located at 310 E. Main St., beginning June 28.The program is for youth and adults and prizes and gift certificates are awarded to those who reach their reading goals.

There also are many free programs provided to the community that are part of the summer reading program.

People can register and receive free tickets to the events at the youth or adult reference desks.

On Mondays from June 8-Aug. 3 there will be stories in Central Park from 11 to 11:30 a.m. In the event of rain the stories will be at the library in meeting room C.

Crafts will be at the library Tuesdays from June 16-July 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Crafts will be provided.

Teen programs will be Wednesdays at 1:07 p.m. with a two-hour workshop June 24 with drama specialist Carol Knarr.

Thursdays will be special guests. On June 11 The Rubber Band will perform from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will include singing and dancing to a full band that includes kids.

Madcap Puppets will perform June 18 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The Water Show will be June 25 at 10 a.m. at Central Park.

The Velveteen Rabbit movie will be at 10 a.m. July 2.

Rusty The Magician will perform at 10 a.m. July 9.

Franklin the Turtle will visit the library at 10 a.m. July 16.

Fridays from June 19-July 16 at 10 a.m. will be reading with canines. Billy Brinkerhuff and the Lake City Canine Club will bring trained canines to the program.

Art will be presented by Derrick Haniford and The Warsaw Community Arts Center Inc.

A digital photography class and watercolor and ink classes will be Saturdays. A jewelry craft and tissue window mosaic will be held for children. A paper mache and create-a-button art piece program will be for children ages 8 and older.

"A Village Beyond" will be presented by the Fort Wayne Dance Collective June 22 at 6:30 p.m.
