Warsaw Home Burns For Second Time In A Week

Posted
A Warsaw home caught on fire for the second time in less than a week Thursday afternoon.

Warsaw Fire Department crews responded to a call Thursday of a fire at 2356 S. Stonebridge Road.

A contractor working on the house noticed the blaze and called the fire department.

The contractor was there doing work on the home after it caught fire Oct. 29.

According to Warsaw Fire Department Fire Marshal Michael Wilson, the Oct. 29 blaze was accidental and originated in a burn barrel on the north side of the home's yard. Wilson said it's believed ashes from the barrel hit leaves, which caused a fire that started on the outside of the home then worked itself inside. Crews arrived around 6:35 a.m. and needed less than a half hour to get the blaze under control.

Wilson said Thursday's fire is believed to be accidental as well and started in the fire place.

The insurance company for the house is bringing in a private investigator this weekend.

According to Wilson, Thursday's blaze was brought under control in about 20 minutes though investigators stayed on scene for several hours.

While the first fire started on the outside, according to Wilson, WFD investigator Mark Howard said Thursday's fire was in the fireplace.

The home is owned by Dr. Richard Sasso, but his son Eric lives there.

Winona Lake Fire Department assisted at Thursday's fire.
