Warsaw Harriers Lead Roundup With Another Undefeated Conference Season

GOSHEN – For the third-straight season, Warsaw’s boys cross country team ran through the Northern Lakes Conference with an unblemished record.
En route to winning their 21st-straight NLC meet, the Tigers topped host Concord 15-45 and Plymouth 15-49 Tuesday at Ox Bow Park.
Warsaw will be right back at Ox Bow Park Saturday for the NLC Championships.
In dominating the Minutemen and Pilgrims Tuesday, Warsaw claimed the top five spots, led by Owen Glogovsky’s winning time of 16:57.
Tyler Houvener finished second for the Tigers, while Warsaw’s Nick Bergen, Daniel Messenger and Ellis Coon rounded out the top five.

Monday in Syracuse
Hosting two Northern Lakes Conference opponents Tuesday, the Wawasee boys cross country team defeated NorthWood (17-42), but fell against Goshen (27-30). For Wawasee, Adam Doll finished second in 16:37 and Zach Cockrill was fourth with a time of 16:48. Wawasee now sits at 7-3 overall and ends the NLC regular season at 4-3. Up next is Saturday’s NLC Championships at Ox Bow Park.

Tuesday in Goshen
Closing out the regular season with a three-team, Northern Lakes Conference meet at Ox Bow Park, the Warsaw girls cross country team posted two victories. Ending its NLC campaign at 6-1, the Lady Tigers defeated Concord 23-34 and Plymouth 21-40. Allison Miller won the meet with her time of 20:37, while Warsaw teammates Brooke Rhodes (21:05) and Hannah Dawson (21:18) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. The Lady Tigers are back at Ox Bow Saturday for the NLC Championships. Warsaw enters the NLC Meet at 6-1, while Northridge is 7-0, meaning a win by Warsaw and a second-place finish by Northridge would result in a share of the conference crown.

Tuesday in Syracuse
A sixth-runner tiebreaker had to be instituted Tuesday in Syracuse, resulting in the Wawasee girls cross country team’s narrow loss to Goshen, although it did defeat NorthWood (19-42). Running without junior Bre Robinson, Wawasee’s Bridgette Yoder (20:30), Courtney Linnemeier (20:38) and Molly Swartz (20:46) finished second, third and fourth, respectively. Between Wawasee and Goshen, the Lady Redskins’ sixth runner finished 11 seconds faster than Wawasee’s sixth, breaking the 28-28 tie. The Lady Warriors will now prepare for Saturday’s Northern Lakes Conference Championships at Elkhart’s Ox Bow Park.

In a three-team, Three Rivers Conference meet at Wabash Tuesday, the Whitko girls cross country team went 1-1. Northfield had the low score of the meet with 34, followed by Whitko’s 39 and Wabash’s 50, while Lakeland Christian Academy didn’t have enough runner’s for a team score. Whitko hosts Heritage Thursday.

In Northern Lakes Conference action Tuesday at Northridge, the Wawasee boys soccer team lost 4-0. In the loss, Northridge outshot Wawasee 16-6, helping to get the victory. The Warriors now sit at 5-6-3 and 1-2-2 in the NLC. The Warriors are back in NLC play Thursday at home against Plymouth.
