The Warsaw Community High School Winter Guard will compete for the last time this season in the Indiana High School Color Guard Association state finals.
The guard's performance is set for 2:14 p.m. Saturday at Anderson High School. Ticket information and maps are available by calling Laura White or Martin Becker at the high school,267-5174.
The guard began practicing for their winter season in November. The girls met three or four times a week learning the counts to their music, flag maneuvers and rifle tosses.
Their season has consisted of two first-place finishes, two seconds, a third, a fourth and a sixth. This year's show is an upbeat country theme to the music of Grant Wood.
White is the guard director, while Kristie Whitesell is senior captain. Other members are Allison and Mesta Bussard, Christine Cook, Ashley Johnson, Ellen Lancaster, Marisha Leatherman, Colleen McIlharger, Kira Mercer, Kelly Packer and Cathy Tucker.
The guard will perform Tuesday and Thursday for all-school assemblies at Lakeview and Edgewood middle schools as part of "Music in our Schools Month." They will also learn a new routine to perform with the Tiger's Pride Marching Band at Disney World during spring break.
Tryouts for next year's guard begin after the return from Florida. Students, including incoming freshmen, should contact White for tryout information.
