Former Warsaw Community High School kicker Jake Rogers has been signed to an NFL team.
New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today the team has agreed to terms with the rookie free agent placekicker.
Rogers, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound product of the University of Cincinnati, played in 52 career games for the Bearcats and converted 51-of-75 (68%) of his field goal attempts and 186-of-194 extra points for 339 points. He is the Bearcats’ all-time leading scorer, having surpassed former professional kicker Jonathan Ruffin (315) in that category.
Along with placekicking, Rogers also handled the punting duties during his senior season (2010) with 43 punts for 1,788 yards for an average of 41.6 yards per attempt.
He also handled kickoffs at Cincinnati, where he recorded 64 career touchbacks on 308 kickoffs. Rogers booted a career-long 55-yard field goal as a freshman (2007) and also had a 54-yarder as a sophomore.
The former walk-on at Cincinnati hails from Warsaw where he played soccer and handled the football kicking duties as a senior.

Rogers had 23 touchbacks in 92 kickoff attempts, one of the better percentages in the country. He also punted 43 times for 1,788 yards (41.6 average), with a long of 54 yards. He put 15 kicks inside the 20 yard line, forced fair catches on eight kicks and had three touchbacks and one blocked.
